Netherland Meteor Collision 4th Dec 1952

On 4th Dec 1952 Dutch Meteors I-143 and I-165 collided over Nuenen near Eindhoven

The pilots were 2/Lt J. V. Kemenade and Lt Van der Werve. Kemenade ejected OK and survived, Lt Van der Werve was killed

Again looking for indications of who flew what aircraft, Sqn involved and full names and service numbers of both pilots

Thanks

Paul

Update: Pilot killed was Lt Wimpie Richard van der Werve

Re: Netherland Meteor Collision 4th Dec 1952

Paul,

From what I could gather: 2/Lt Kemenade in I-143, Lt Van der Werve in I-165.

328 Squadron, Soesterberg Air Base. Meteors were on a training flight.

It appears that Van der Werve did eject, but parachute failed to open (it may be that the pilot was unconscious because of the impact and so was unable to perform the necessary, newspapers reported).

Regards,

Leendert
