An interesting and strange episode with false AA claim 13.May.43
Hello friends,
just found a strange case with AA report. 1st battery of the Soviet 772.AA regiment reported that the battery shot down a FW190 in Krymskaja area (Taman peninsula) 13.May.43. Aircraft fell nearby, motor w/n 16095. But 37 Army AA commander's indorsement read as follows: "Stop the clearly false reports! ..." and further about a threatening punishment. One FW190 really was downed on 13.May in the area - FW190A-5 w/n 1271 from II./SchG1. But at least one more AA claim for FW190 on 13.May exist. It isn't clear whether motor w/n 16095 was already in other report or it was a fiction at all. Is it possible to find info about BMW801 w/n 16095? Best regards, Andrey |

Hello Andrey,
I have only one other BMW801 with a 160XX prefix like your 16095. It is 16049, found on Fw190A-8 Werknummer 171097. Date, location and source not noted. I hope this of some help to you. Steve Sheflin |
