GZ codes were used by 32 Sqn on its Hurricanes from Sept 1939 until about April 1943 when it converted to Spitfire Mk VC. The Sqn was based in the UK until November 1942 when it went to North Africa.

I suspect that this photo was taken in Europe though its hard to tell where as the background might have been airbrushed out. It looks to be a Hurricane Mk I but not from the first batch as the aerial is of a later batch from N2318 onwards.

Shot down by a German fighter and crash-landed in northern France during Circus 101.

8-Nov-1941. Supermarine Spitfire V W3944 PK-A. S/Ldr W. Szczesniewski. pow
During Circus 110 his a/c lost fuel over France, and pilot force-landed near Arras.

Burnt out Hurricane with no visible squadron markings... probably France... may 1940?

Regarding the Hampden in Rotterdam it's almost certainly P4324 code QR-P of 61 Sqn, which force landed on the island of Vlieland in the Netherlands on 27th August 1940 after running out of fuel. There is no damage to the props which suggests it has not been raised up after a belly landing.

No doubt it landed on the beach in this link!
