Re: Captured Aircraft Questions

Both sides carefully evaluated captured aircraft for new equipment and other features. Aircraft that could be made airworthy were made airworthy and were taken to German airfields or special bases for evaluation, and were used in mock combat with other Luftwaffe aircraft to gain actual flying knowledge to learn how best to attack the aircraft, with a focus on its weakest points. Others were salvaged for spare parts.

I have seen photos of outdoor pilot training sessions where various models of Allied aircraft were attached to wires thick enough to keep each model in an upward position. The instructor would gesture with his hands, and explain the best methods of attack and evasion.

Best,
Ed

Re: Captured Aircraft Questions

I have been away for a while. But thanks for that interesting information, edwest.

Still looking for any more information I can find, I'd love to talk to someone with a lot of knowledge on the KG200.
