I have managed to obtain and read my grandads wartime log from being a POW from September 1941 - 45.

On his travels he was in numerous camps from Lamsdorf Sept 41 - April 41, Sagan Apr 42 - May 43, Hydekrug May 43 - August 44 , Fallingbostel August 44 - April 45.

Interestingly in this book it lists many names and in some instances addresses of people who wrote in my grandads book and left messages.

I thought it would be interesting if I shared the names with you all as it contains RAF, Army etc, worth a look it may bring up a relative!!

Prior to this he did Wireless training at Yatesbury in 1940, Gunnery training at Stormy Down Wales late 1940 and then on to 11 OTU at Bassingbourne early 1941, before going to RAF Leconfield awaiting to join 7 Squadron.

Escaped forced march to Lubeck in the Gresse, Germany friendly fire incident on the 19th April 45.

Interestingly in this book it lists many names and in some instances addresses of people who wrote in my grandads book and left messages.

Hello, i was looking through you post regarding your grandfather's PoW log and noted he writes of "Dennis S Merrells - 7 Squadron N3663 MG-H pow 2/8/41"

This is RAF Sgt 567091 Dennis Stanley Merrells PoW number 42 who was in fact shot down 3rd August 1941 at 1.48am by Fw Alfred Warrelmann, the last of his 7 victories. A search on this site of Warrelmann will bring up details of his flying career & claims.

During the little research i've carried out some years ago i wrote Stirling I N3663 as MG-A but i can't recall how i obtained this information.
