Here is an interesting detail : there is a box fixed on the airframe (see pictures) with markings.
One can a triangle in a circle, and there is a marking: DC8G-3C (I suppose an electrical item ? "DC"). Would this give an indication ? Concerning measurement of the parts, we should have them soon. Rgds GC Last edited by gilles collaveri; 18th June 2018 at 06:46.

Hello col. Bruggy,
The pieces found on the spot (I see and touch on of them) suggests a very violent crash: it can not be an airplane that sank in one piece as described in the report of 16th November 1944 of the 1st Emergency Rescue Squadron. I try with Gilles to load some pictures.

So, looking the the size of the threaded part below the nut, it appears the diameter is 42mm with a thread pitch of 2mm. That would appear to be a metric size bolt and thread pitch, i.e. 42x2 not US/Canadian size measurements in the 1940s.
