7th September 1944 52FG Loss
Hello,
I have not been able to find the pilot's fate ? 7th September, 1944 52 FG/5 FS P51B 42-106605 "VF-N" "Boots" On a Training flight over Italy. No search made ? Presumably because over allied occupied territory ? Pilot: 2Lt. Harold Nelson TIMMER- O-714526 - MIA. Enlisted at Lansing, Michigan, 12th December 1942. Residence Kent County Michigan. Date of Birth 1922. Birth Place Panama Canal Zone. MACR 8355. Where did the aircraft crash ? What became of its pilot ? I have searched ABMC; DPAA; Findagrave; NARA WW2 POW lists and Fold3; Headstone request forms. Nothing seems to reveal if this airman survived or was killed ? Equally the crash site of the a/c does not seem to have been found ? I would have thought that the wreckage would have been recovered along with the remains. Any info is welcome Alex |
