I do believe this footage was shot by George Stevens.

Re: captured german planes in color

Hi friends,

Among all the footage #838-053-277 (Bf109-G "Gelbe 11") is quite helpful since it gives us an identity to the following picture we've loaded times ago! .

By the way; a Bf109G-what?

Cheers, Franck.

Re: captured german planes in color

Hi Franck,

in one of the "Bf 109 G/K" volumes by Krzystof Janowicz the Werknummer of this plane is given as 20285. This would make it a Bf 109 G-6 produced by WNF during summer 1943. For me the photos are not so telling, however. Visible more clearly are only the last three digits of the Werknummer, which could also be ...785.
In any case, it sure looks like a G-6 (or a G-14 with it's FuG 16 ZY antenna missing), but obviously it has been retrofitted with the later-model wings as they feature the larger wheel bulges.

Regards,
Christian

Re: captured german planes in color

Hello Christian,
Thank you for your answer.
I thought I had seen a WNr. somewhere but I didn't took it ... somekind of a confirmation.
Of course wheel size doesn't match with larger bulges ... If the WNr. is correct, it's quite a long life for a 1943 produced G-6.
... But, camouflage - I mean paint job - doesn't seem to be that old; instead it looks (for me) factory fresh!
- When did those wings (with larger bulges) started to be produced?

KR, Franck.
