Kartenrahmen of an Bf-110

Hello,

some years ago I found 3 Kartenrahmen of an Bf-110 near an Hangar what was used by Bf-110's

The size of the Kartenrahmen are 50cmx22cmx3cm and the have a leather strap.

In the book Messerschmitt Bf 110 C, D and E of Jhon Vasco and Fernando Estanislau is an drawing of the kartenrahmen on page 44.

You can clearly see the 8 smaller holes on the backside of the Kartenrahm.

1 meter next where I found the Kartenrahmen, I found some pannels 15x20cm whith different Anlageshaltplanen of an Bf-110.

I am woundering if this Anlageshaltplanen where in the Kartenrahmen.

Does anybody of you no where these kartenrahmen where used for?
Does anybody of you have an picture of these Kartenrahmen?

Thanks in advance,

Reetje

Without wanting to sound to nozy, which Fliegerhorst are you talking about?

And no, I've no idea what these "Kartenrahmen" were used for. Besides, looking at the drawing you've posted, they look more like a "Kartentasche" to me.

Kind regards,
Rudi.

The kartenrahmen standing next to the kartentashe, on the left the Kartentashe en on the right, the kartenrahmen.

If you look at my 1st picture you can see the smaller 8 holes on the backside which are also on the kartenrahm on the drawing.

regards,

reetje

Re: Kartenrahmen of an Bf-110

Karten rahmen translates as map frame. I suppose they were used to hold the maps while in flight

Hi,

This is simply a holder for a document or map case. A nice identifiable piece to find!

Just found on eBay, item no 200310339026 , which is a late war Luftwaffe navigator's case - have a look!

Regards,

David

Re: Kartenrahmen of an Bf-110

FYI I would translate "Anlageshaltplanen" as system switch plan that is diagrams over the electrical installations of the plane.

reetje - you're welcome
