Luftwaffe War Memorial

Hello,

Can anyone tell me if there is a War Memorial similar to the British Runnymede memorial which list all the Luftwaffe airmen that are missing ? If so what is it called?

Regards.
Dave.

Re: Luftwaffe War Memorial for the Missing

Hi All,

Thought I would re-post this message in case anyone missed it?

Surely someone out there must know if this exists?

Look forward to hearing from you.

Regards.
Dave.

Question Re: Luftwaffe War Memorial

Hello,

No I don't think that a war memorial exist for the missing Luftwaffe airman.
There's one memorial for the fallen and if I'm not mistaken also for the missing seamen of the Kriegsmarine in Kiel.
Perhaps you can check the volksbund website for more details :
www.volksbund.de

Best regards,

Dirk TOLLET

Re: Luftwaffe War Memorial

Hi Dirk, Chris & Stephen,

Thanks for your replies, though unfortunately the links didn`t help much as I only speak English.

It appears though from your messages that there IS NO OFFICIAL LUFTWAFFE WAR MEMORIAL FOR THE MISSING AIRMEN. Is this correct?

Regards.
Dave.

Exclamation Re: Luftwaffe War Memorial

I saw a doco a few years ago about the night air war, they filmed a meeting between 2 Canadian Bomber Command flyers and Martin Becker. It was on a cruise boat on the Rhine, and at the end of the film the camera panned to a bank and quite visible was a tall stone memorial. This in turn was identified as a memorial for German aircrew.
I have the doco on tape somewhere and would have to check (memory is a bit hazy) but I'm sure that's correct.

Re: Luftwaffe War Memorial

Hate to rehash an old thread.. but I'm searching for the site of the Luftwaffe Memorial that is somewhere along the Rhein river, north of Frankfurt. I visited it years ago when I was stationed at Rhein Main AB.
It was a tall column with 2 birds symbolizing a Rotte.

Can Anyone help?
Always
Motch
