First US Navy Parachute Incident in 1930

On January 16, 1930 Lt George Harbord De Baun was flying over San Diego, California (it is believed to be a Boeing F3B of VB-2B, USS Saratoga) when the plane he was flying in could not be recovered from an Inverted Spin and he bailed out.

He was later the commander of TBD Devastator unit VT-6 Sept 1939 on USS Enterprise (CV-6) and Captain of USS COWPENS (CV-25) during WW2 and ended up an Admiral

Birth 10 May 1897 Lyon County, Kansas, USA
Death 6 Oct 1979 Pinellas County, Florida, USA

I know that a US Navy aircraft was lost 16 Jan 1930 San Diego, CA, but that is all and I can't find any contemporary news reports either.

So can anyone please identify the actual aircraft involved and any other info thanks Paul

Update found a brief news report

De Baun was practicing Immelman turns when he got into an inverted spin. The aircraft was F3B-1, A-7729, of VB-2B and it came down at Lower Otay Dam, San Diego.
