Noted Aviation author Norman Frank's passed away aged 83 last Sunday. A devoted aviation historian with a sharp mind and a biting wit, I will miss my friend of 40 years. Rest in Peace, Norman.

Just found out myself-sad that someone else from the aviation author fraternity has gone. I heard he passed away in hospital in Eastbourne on 20 May

It's a shock to read the above announcement. Totally unexpected.

I feel as if I have lost a friend. Someone who, through his books, spoke to me. Often I would sit down with a cup of tea and comfortably spend the afternoon chatting with him through his books. I found him to be an interesting and knowledgeable writer, choosing topics not necessarily in mainstream.

So sad to think that I won't feel that excited buzz again to see a new release from him.
Still, through his books, I can re-read them and have continued, ongoing discussions with him.

A great loss.

This is depressing news. I have a large collection of his wonderful books which are always top-class in content and style. These are the monuments of his life. Deepest sympathy to his family.
