Unknown airfield to identify

Hi everybody,

can anyone identify the airfield with these aircraft hangars? The water tower is located in the direct vicinity of this airfield.

The airfield itself was used by KG 54 and I think it's probably in France.

Kind regards,
Rudi.

Re: Unknown airfield to identify

Hello!

My best bet would be Caen Carpiquet: the dark green painted ex-French "demi-tonneau" hangars in the two visible two double-pairs and the water tower are dead giveaways (Caen had four such double-pairs north of the airfield and four others south of the platform; they are now gone, but heir location is still very visible. The water tower still exists and is in use).

Look also there: http://aerostories.free.fr/events/torture/carpiquet.JPG

The photo is oriented top SSW: the two double pairs of the Ju88 photo are probably those top right.
The water tower is just behind the bottom large hangar on the left (these two also survive to this day)
