It did but the series (if you can call a few prototype conversions that) wasn't defined by its engine type so far as I know.

A few months ago I saw an appealing table in the web with the Bf109 subtypes and their engines but now I cannot relocate it.

Thanks for the link to that photo, I hadn't seen that one before. It would date to when my uncle was CO of the unit I believe. His main mount was 'Yellow 13', I'd be interested to know who flew 'Yellow 11'.

I've checked the profiles in OSPREY's JG3 volume...no Yellow 11, only White 11 and Black 11.
