WELLINGTON KX-A 3.3.1942 311 Sqn.(Czech)
Wellington KX-A was shot down 20 Km North West of Terschelling Holland 3.3.1942 by Paul Gildner after their raid on Emden.
Does anyone know if there were any of the crews remains recovered. I am most interested in Dobromil Spinka as my father-in-law knew him. |

Re: WELLINGTON KX-A 3.3.1942 311 Sqn.(Czech)
This Wellington Mk.IC R1167 (KX-A) was aparently shot down by Bf 110 night fighter flown by Oberfeldwebel Paul Gildner of Stab II/NJG 2. He claimed a Wellington at 21.20 (German time) over the North Sea 20 kms NW of Terschelling.
None was found. All six Czech airmen are commemorated in Runnymede Memorial. |
