Johannes has a spectacular aura aboutJohannes has a spectacular aura about
Walter März of 5./JG26 and possibly JG88

Hi Guys

Seems nobody yet has been able to produce a forename for the successful JG88 pilot uffz März who made claims for I-16's on 23rd September 1938, 2nd November 1938 and 4th November 1938, he seems to have survived the Spanish Civil War, but nothing more is heard about him.

However Kracker states/thinks this is Fw and later Ofw Waldemar(Walter) März who later had success with 5./JG26 with claims on 24th May 1940, 2nd June 1940(unconfirmed), 6th April 1941 and 21st July 1941. The Micro Films state his forename as Walter as does Don Caldwell's JG26 book.

The progression of rank and timeslot seems perfect for this to be the sae pilot, but Walter we here no more of after his last claims.

Can anybody please confirm by document or possibly ever a photo of Walter with 5./JG26 with Spanienkreuz?

Grateful as ever for any help here

Kind Regards

Johannes
