W R Chorley - 1943 - Bomber Command losses

Would any of you have this book?

IF so, could someone just cross-check one DATA for me please?

I do remember seeing on another site the total losses of Brazilians in RAF Service (Bomber Command at least) totalling something around 17 or 19 lives. I can not find the right information or site by now, and this is what I wanted to have cross-checked.

If memory does not fail me, the correct number was 17....but am not sure now...it has been some time I have read it. It seems this info may be on the Appendix or by the end of this particular book.

I just need the clarification of this total for that year (on Bomber Command).

Many thanks for that help.
Adriano B.

Re: W R Chorley - 1943 - Bomber Command losses

Just found in Vol.9 it seems (http://ww2talk.com/index.php?threads...mmand.61556/):

Chorley, in his publication RAF Bomber Command Losses Vol.9 - Roll Of Honour 1939-1947 gives the following statistics re Brazilian aircrew losses while serving in the RAF .........

1941 - 1
1942 - 3
1943 - 5
1944 - 2

Sorry for disturbing...should have made homework first....

A.

Re: W R Chorley - 1943 - Bomber Command losses

Checking on the CWGC database, in WW2 there were 46 deaths with "Brazil" as Additional Information. Of course, these may be other Nationalities resident in Brazil, if you need to check each record, but 42 served in the British Forces, 3 with Canadian and 1 with NZ forces.
27 were aircrew/Air Force; 12 Army; 4 Civilian; 2 Royal and 1 Merchant Navy.

9 of the Air Force deaths were in 1943.

Re: W R Chorley - 1943 - Bomber Command losses

ICARE,
Many thanks, I indeed have cross-checked all those for my work of the Brazilians in Allied Air Force Services (Overseas) in WW2...guess that the number you furnished of 9 do confirm that those killed that year were all Bomber Command members.

Thanks for the time and kind help. It matches Chorley's number too...so, I need to correct this DATA on the work am finishing...do not remember from where I belived it was 17 or 19 the total of Brazilians killed in action that year on the Allied Air Forces.

Thanks again.

Adriano
