Paul Galland and his claims

Hello

By studying the fights of 06/7/41 (who shot down who?),I "fell" on Paul Galland's claims and the distribution of these.

D.Caldwell(JG26 Diary) and J.Prien(JFV #5 and #7) are in total contradiction on the dates.
I have some experience of contradictions, according to the sources(even serious),but then,CHAMPION!certainly one of the "BEST"!!
The two agree for 17 "Abschusse" (Phew!!),but what a "circus"! for the dates!

According Caldwell:
(1.) 06/07/41=Spit
(2.) 04/09/41=Spit
(3.) 17/09/41=Spit
(4.) 12/02/42=Swordfish
(5.) 10/04/42=Spit
(6.) 24/04/42=Spit
(7.) 25/04/42=Spit
(8.) 26/04/42=Spit
(9.) 01/05/42=Spit
(10.) 03/05/42=Spit
(11.) 01/06/42=Spit
(12.) 29/06/42=Spit
(13.) 30/07/42=Spit
(14.) 30/07/42=Spit
(15.) 19/08/42=Spit
(16.) 27/08/42=Spit
(17.) 31/10/42=Boston

According to Prien and Co:

(1.) 04/09/41=Spit
(2.) 12/02/42=Swordfish
(3.) 12/02/42=Swordfish
(4.) 12/02/42=Swordfish
(5.) 12/02/42=Swordfish
(6.) 10/04/42=Spit
(7.) 24/04/42=Spit
(8.) 25/04/42=Spit
(9.) 26/04/42=Spit
(10.) 01/05/42=Spit
(11.)01/06/42=Spit
(12.) 29/06/42=Spit
(13.) 19/08/42=Spit
(14.) 27/08/42=Spit
(15.) 29/08/42=Spit
(16.) 29/08/42=Spit
(17.) 31/10/42=Spit

It's not "very serious" and I'm "losing my latin"!How to do serious research? with this.

Regards
Michel

To add an 8th "loss":609°Sqd,serial? P/O Roger Malengreau (Belgian) crash landed in england after serious damage (cat2);witness:Sq.Ldr.M.Robinson,F/Lt.J.Offenberg.

12/02/42=3 Swordfish

Re: Paul Galland and his claims

Hi Nick

31/10/42:Boston 107°Sqd according Caldwell

The confusion made by Caldwell comes from the fact that this aircraft was in fact BORROWED by 107°Sqd. for the operation who SUPPLIED the crew.
In summarylane of 88°Sqd and crew of 107°Sqd.
