Hello everyone
I just wondered if anyone might be interested in a new publication (further details upon request to j.evenhart@ntlworld.com) which has taken 30 years of research. It concerns Hertfordshires aviation history. Other counties to follow. There are detailed sections on Zeppelin raids, and aviation development. The main text is related by factual eye-witness accounts, even interviews with Luftwaffe crew members shot down over here. There are sections on the Amiens Raid and also the Heinkel He 111 that crashed on Hunsdon aerodrome in 1940, as well as all the other Luftwaffe crashes in the county. Large chapters on the Junkers 88 that bombed de-Havillands at Hatfield, and the collision of the Luftwaffe ace Heinz Volker with a Wellington Mk1 over Ashwell, which includes a photograph of Volker. First time ever published photographs of wreckage and crew members from the two 390th BG B17`s that collided over Weston.Types of German bombs dropped in WW1 and 2, bombing densities, showing the most heavily bombed zones in Hertfordshire. Also a comprehensive list of aircrashes in Hertfordshire ( actually over 160 incidents between 1912-1945) Also artefacts liberated from crashes, anecdotes and artefacts that have been discovered at these sites, such as the US Airmans dog tag finally sent back to his family after lying for 62 years in the soil of a Hertfordshire field.
Kind regards Julian Evan-Hart
PS if anyone is interested I am doing a book signing at Hoddesdon Books on Saturday 7th July from 11 in morning. Book is available on Internet too.
