8th Air Force Targets 2nd of April 1945

8th AF had on the 2nd of April 1945 planned a major attack on airfields in Denmark.

The targets were SD-38, SD-66, SD-9, SD-65, SD-63 and SD-64. Which airfields are we talking about ??

Thanks in advance
Carsten

Re: 8th Air Force Targets 2nd of April 1945

I looked up "official" websites for bomb groups in the 8th AF. Most of the websites have mission lists. Unfortunately, the mission lists show the planned targets as only names (not with associated code numbers). The mission was recalled due to bad weather over Denmark so no bombing took place. The named sites often had several airfields in the named area, so it is hard to come up with the specific airfield that was supposed to be the target.

Names found are:
Tislund, Tirstrop, Aalborg, Odense, Beldringe and "Snrydstrutden"? This last one may be a very mangled name as I can't find it at all, maybe supposed to be Skrydstrup?

Details on the luftwaffe fields in Denmark can be found here: https://www.ww2.dk/Airfields%20-%20Denmark.pdf

Names of airfields here as well, with differences: https://www.schreiber-pedersen.dk/fa...torangreb.html

457th BG had Odense, 458th BG Tirstrop....

Leendert

Thank you for your help. I have gotten more information about the targets, which were Aalborg West, Grove, Tirstrup, Vandel, Skrydstrup and Beldringe. Vaerloese was not included in the targets.
