The 44th BG has a website here: https://www.44thbombgroup.org/home

I find it somewhat confusing to use and some of the screens are slow to open, but it does seem to show that Arthur H Rasmussen flew B-24 42-50672 on the Nov 29, 1944 mission.

This was the 260th mission for the bomb group, which went to Altenbeken.

The crew listed for that mission:

Arthur H Rasmussen (pilot), Edward H Petelle (gunner), Frank E. Indorf Jr.. Hugh B. White (gunner)
Roderick F. Rice (co-pilot). Thomas J Muldoon (flight engineer), William C. Veasey (gunner), Lewis J. Muldoon (radio operator)
Charles M Lofdahl (bombardier), Archie Lee (bombardier), Albert E Stone

Other possible crewmen: William H Whitsett (navigator)

Most of these crewmen were together in the 492nd BG, in what was called the Stanhope crew. The crew was transferred to the 44th BG.

https://www.492ndbombgroup.com/cgi-b...Stanhope%20710

There is in the 44th BG mission summary, the statement that one plane made an emergency landing at St Trond.

This may be an account of that landing here, in a section called "Unscheduled Landing"
https://www.tampabay.com/news/milita...-from/2240363/
It is possible to scroll down to the section and read the story on your screen without subscribing to the paper. Use the two scroll bars on the right side of the screen to keep the "Subscribe Box" on the top of the screen and scroll the story "behind" and below that box.

The account was written by Edward H Petelle.

Alain,

B-24 44-40437 "Hairless Joe" (506th Bomb Squadron) was on 30 Nov 1944. Landed on the Continent? 44th BG website has no details.

Groet, Leendert

Leendert,

It does look like the Nov 30 1944 mission was the last mission flown by 44-40437 (at least in the 44th BG). The plane does not appear in any in any other missions (at least in the 44th BG according to the website) after that date.

Hairless Joe final crew on Nov 30, 1944 according to the 44th BG site.
All in the 506th Squadron except Shockey, who is listed in the 68th
C. E. Pursley
J. A. "Striegal" (Possibly John Albert Striegel, T Sgt, Flight Engineer)
J. L. Warner
John A. Walsh
W. A. Lohr
Robert L. Hoisington
Fred W. Illgner, Jr., FO
Alvin V. Breeland
Harold L. Shockey RO
