junkers in Tatoi, May 1941

Dear Sirs,

I am enclosing two photographs (taken from Luftwaffe im Focus, no 14/2008) showing the aftermath of the British attack on Tatoi airfield (Athens) on May 17, 1941. In the first image, we can appreciate the wing of a burnt-out ju52 in civilian livery in the foreground and the tail of a second ju52 in 70/71/65. The second photograph shows ju90.Z2 GF+GA W.Nr. 003in the far background, a do17.Z marked U5+MH of 1/KG2 and the tail of a ju52. This second tail, because of the 70/71/65 camo can not belong to the civilian one in RLM02 of the first photo and is not the same with the camouflaged junkers in the background, because of the slightly burnt-out swastika (no traces of fire on the swastika of the first ju) and no visible remnants of the fuselage (the tail of the first ju is still attached to a piece of fuselage). In brief: there are three different, completely burnt-out ju52 in these photographs. German loss reports for May 17, 1941, seem to tell a different story though. They mention 5 junkers:

Ju 52 /3m WNr3003 (BJ+YD) San.Fl.Ber. 7 Fl.Pl. Athen-Kalamaki (20%)
Ju 52 /3m WNr3009 (BJ+YJ) San.Fl.Ber. 7 Fl.Pl. Athen-Kalamaki (10%)
Ju 52 /3mge WNr1340 San.Fl.Ber. 7 Fl.Pl. Athen-Kalamaki (20%)
Ju 52 /3m WNr5721 San.Fl.Ber. 7 Fl.Pl. Athen-Kalamaki (40%)
Only one 100% destroyed crate (W.Nr. 1305) and no other complete losses. Do you have any clue? Are there any other images of the wrecks available? Maybe something that shows also the other two losses ofthe day,

Hello Andrea and members of TOCH - friends or unknown members. Never posted before, but today is an opportunity. Thank you Andrea.
Please allow me to add an Ultra doc, mentioning the losses of Tatoi that day, but -unfortunately- no answers...
Tatoi was bombed by Wellingtons, of the 148th Sqn RAF and the Germans transmitted their losses :
Three Ju 52, one G 38 and one Do 17. And informing us that they were completely lost, by fire.
On the other hand, GQM has recorded one completely loss of a Ju 52 (WNr 1305) and four Ju 52, damaged. Plus a Hs 126 (100% damaged) and the big one, the G 38 (100%).
Many questions here.
Did the Germans transmitted finally wrong data, about their losses ?
Does someone has other Ju 52 losses or for that Do 17 ? Surely photos can help a lot, to see whats left.
If anyone can post any photo, please be my guest (or Andrea’s).

I know this is an old thread but I stumbled across it while doing research. I believe the attached photo from documents belonging to Oberfeldwebel Karl Müller (RK) shows the same Do 90 at Tatoi. At the time, Müller was flying with 1./KG 2 out of Tatoi. Although this is not the best of photos, some damage can be seen, including a flat tyre. I believe Müller is the airman on the left. The pencil caption on the back says 'Ju 90 at Athens Tatoi damaged by British bombing'.

Fw. Müller, Karl was involved in another incident also?
On the 11/5/1941, a Ju88A5 (2296/L1+IR) took off Benina and ended up lost in the Med. 7./LG1 was the Unit.
Müller (the air gunner) was recorded MIA. Same name or same man possibly?
