W/C Branse BURBRIDGE DSO DFC's logbook (85 Sqn)
Hello,
I would like to know if someone could kindly share with me a copy of Branse BURBRIDGE's logbook, especially about his claim on the 14-15 June 1944. He shot down Hptm. Wilhelm HERGET's Ju88. After WW2, BURBRIDGE met HERGET (former I./NJG 4 Kommandeur) and offered him a ride in a Mosquito! This anecdote is written in his log-book and I would appreciate a copy of this in order to illustrate a forecoming article. I have already contacted Mrs Gillian R. WARSON, author of Branse BURBRIDGE's biography. Unfortunately, she was unable to copy the logbook. I thank you beforehand of your attention. Best regards ClinA-78 |

Nobody had access to the log-book of this gentleman, the top scorer of all Nightfighters? So sad...

Such a (sad) coincidence!
I hope someone has a look into the log-book before being sold. Very sad end of story for an hero! http://bbb-news.com/blog/2013/02/26/...are-home-fees/ Best regards Unfortunately I don't have enough money... |

Re: W/C Branse BURBRIDGE DSO DFC's logbook (85 Sqn)
Hello guys...
ANY possibility of the family asking for help to the RAF Benevolent Fund? Could WE (all fans, enthusiasts, writers - there are a lot of them here - readers, etc..) try to help? IF each of us do help with 10 pounds each...we could try to help the family...it is indeed a SHAME....What they fought for, if they can not even be treated by the Government in their final "approach to land"? I can not understand....really....it makes me remember the "never to be forgotten phrase of Winston Churchill: "Never in the field of Human Conflicts was so much owed by so many to so few"...It SEEMS we (the so many) forgot to remember of them (the so few).... I would gladly DONATE (bearing in mind my possibilities) to help the family...if one of you guys can contact the family...we could think about that, for all what he did... Yours Adriano S. Baumgartner (from BRAZIL) |

Re: W/C Branse BURBRIDGE DSO DFC's logbook (85 Sqn)
Having been involved with the RAF Ben Fund and RAFA, the difficulty is if you do it for one, you will end up doing a lot more and in that case, those who are in desperate need of help will lose out.

Re: W/C Branse BURBRIDGE DSO DFC's logbook (85 Sqn)
I have (some) time but not enough money; perhaps ask to HM Government or the Church he served? Where is the Charity when someone needs it?
I don't know if the family is in need (or wish to sell) his 'bankable' memorabilia in order to have access for him to 'high standing' carehome, whatever he deverses it well. This sad story highlights a real social problem for veterans (and generally speaking old people, mostly anonymous) in our 'modern' society where the 'human ressource' is now a valour. Just my two cents. ClinA-78 |
