Re: Oblt E-G Drunkler, 12 /NJG1 Jun '43
Thanx Chris,
A solid reply, as usual :-) . Understand he was a Knights Cross holder? A Photo would be great. The Stirling in question (see first post) was Stirling III BK 799, taken on-charge, 21st Apr '43. SOC 1st Jul. OJ-O, from 149 Sqn. RNLAF-41 (37) recovery party recovered parts of this aircraft from the Ijsselmeer in April 1969. The aircraft was on a raid to Krefeld, and was shot down by Oblt Ernst-Georg Drunkler of 12 /NJG 1 on the night of 22 June ‘43. Any idea of Aircraft type? Crew was: J Lowrie Pilot J Atkinson Flt Eng F Waite A.G. D Fudge Wop/AG F Hurd A.G. A Coull Bomb Aimer Also on board, according to records, was Flying.Officer. D.H. Lyne - (probably on a "Famil" Op?)It is interesting to note that there are no entries for Lyne in the CWGC! Thanks again for your Sterling (sic) efforts! Regards Alan F |

Re: Oblt E-G Drunkler, 12 /NJG1 Jun '43
Correct-started with II/ZG 2 in May 42 then to 2/NJG 5 in Oct 42, IV/NJG 1 in May 43, 13/NJG 5 in Aug 43, , 1/NJG 5 in Feb 44 ending up in 7/NJG 3 at the end of the war. 102 ops, 47 kills, 45 at night. I was wrong, no photo apart from what is in the RK book. Perhaps some of our nightfighter specialists could add more or help

Re: Oblt E-G Drunkler, 12 /NJG1 Jun '43
from a listing in my data E-Georg's Stirling victory was his 3rd of his 47 kills. The RAF bomber going down at 02.39 hrs. Does this match with the records ?
E-Georg also had 2 B-17's shot down during the day and 7 kills unconfirmed. The RK book referred to is Ernst Obermaiers Ritterkreuzträger der Luftwaffe, volume 1 E ~
