JFV 13/III

Gentlemen,

tomorrow the complete manuscript of JFV 13/III will go to the printer. It will cover the service of the Luftwaffe day fighter units in the West from 1 January to 30 September 1944, thus completing the narrative part of the year 1944 for Reichsverteidigung and the West. I hope that Jörg Rogge can make it possible to come out before the end of this year.

The new Volume will comprise 678 pages with 246 photos. Vol. 13/IV and V will complete this part of the series with the usual General Part - command-structure, strength, newly introduced a/c types, camouflage and markings etc. - a very short summary of each unit's service and of course the usual tables with claims and losses etc.

I will keep you posted as to the date of publication asap.

Re: JFV 13/III

Quite some journey you made Jochen.

When your first volume of JG 53 was published in 1989 and now 28 years later you and your colleagues can actually see the 'end' of that journey at the horizon.

Congratulations to both you and Gerhard (and not forgetting Winfried either)

Back in 1989 did you ever visualize this day....?

Cheers
Stig

Re: JFV 13/III

Dear Stig,

yes, I did, but thought it would be much earlier. As it is, we still have to tackle the South and the East in 1944 and the end in 1945, all told at least another six Volumes.

Anyway, thanks for your encouragement - we'll try our best.

Re: JFV 13/III

No, I'm afraid only in German, as no Publisher has yet been found who would tackle this series in an English edidition with 25 Volumes out so far and another appr. eight to ten yet to come.

Re: JFV 13/III

Gentlemen,

Jörg Rogge has just informed me that he won't be able to bring out JFV 13/III before Christmas; the publication date is now set for second half of January 2018. The first 300 pages are on their way to me for final approval, the rest to follw before the end of the year.

Work on JFV 13/IV is well under way and will hopefully ready by mid 2018. It will cover the General Par and the statistics ( officer's roster, airfields, subordination, a/c and pilot strength returns, claims and losses) unit by unitt.

I will Keep you informed.

Re: JFV 13/III

Gentlemen,

the good News is that Vol. 13/III has been printed, the bad News is that the bookbinder can only complete his part in March so that the launching of Vol. 13/III has now been fixed for 14 March 2018. Will Keep you posted.
