Luftwaffe attacks on English targets 31 May-2 June 1944

Paragraph 160 of Air Chief Marshal Sir Leigh-Mallory's despatch on Air Operations by the Allied Expeditionary Force, Nov 1943 to September 1944 (http://www.ibiblio.org/hyperwar/UN/U...ette/37838.pdf), refers to small (enemy) forces acting indiscriminately over the UK on the nights of 31 May-1 June and 1-2 June 1944.

I would be interested to know where these took place - can anyone help please?

Two intruders were detected over East Anglia on the night of 31 May and about another six off the coast, all thought to be Me 410 of KG 51.

I don't have anything for the second night you mention, though.

Thank you, Nick, that certainly fits the 'small forces' criteria, the location is just what I was seeking.

The Key Points weekly report just shows General- 31stMay/1st June two aircraft operated over Norfolk for a short time, while a small force operated offshore between Southwold and Cromer, possibly laying mines. Followed by Key points affected - USAAF Airfield Deopham Green, Norfolk H.E. and machine-gunning caused slight damage. A short time later bombs were dropped at 2 other places in Norfolk.
