I don't know about IV./EJG1 but, effectively I was thinking about a front unit like that since: 1/ Doesn't match with one school unit 2/ JG77 G-12 we talked about times ago came in my mind, a strong feeling for such "situation". Cheers, Franck. PS.IV./EJG1 came from JGr.West which had G-12s among other machines... |

Re: Me109 two seater photo "31+I"
Many thanks, Rémi and Franck, for your inputs...
Again I have this odd impression to see a one colored RVB tail band...either red or green. JG 1 or JG 27 ? Cheers Marc |

Re: Me109 two seater photo "31+I"
Hello,
It seams this G-12 was builded from a Late G-2 Or G-4 Model. You can see the bulged wing fairings and the engine cover in place. Picture from the book: "Messerschmitt Bf-109 F,G&K Series" An illustrated Study Jochen Prien and Peter Rodeicke And this art profil shows a blue 31+| Picture from Bf-109 G,H Militaria : Well that do you think ? Red, blue or possibly green 31 ? And for the color of the propeller spinner yellow or white color ? Best regards, Lumabe. |

Re: Me109 two seater photo "31+I"
Hi there,
I have found a Bf 109 two-seater numbered "31" in a set of photos allocated to Köthen. Could this be the same plane? It surely looks very similar.. Cheers, Christian Last edited by ChristianK; 3rd February 2021 at 11:42. |

Re: Me109 two seater photo "31+I"
Hallo christianK !
Yes and no: the machine in Köthen is an older G-2 or G-6 as evidenced by the spiked wheels and lack of D/F loop; it also differs having its "31" painted in plain... And we're way of Rodenbach Cheers Marc |

Re: Me109 two seater photo "31+I"
Thanks Lumabe, for your informations !
I do think that "Weisse 31" posted here does sport a red tail band. Could it be this machine was flown by JG 1 ? Grafwolf, thanks for your excellent picture. Any informations about unit an location ? And source? Thanks in advance. Cheers Marc |

Re: Me109 two seater photo "31+I"
Hello!
Picture from blue (?) 30+FJ is from collection Hermanutz. He wrote the little book "Flugplatz Reichenbach". I doubt that this G-12 belongs to JG 106 on airfield Reichenbach. Although background would fit perfekt to Reichenbach. Markings of JG 106 should be yellow 2XX. Herzliche Grüsse aus Oberschwaben, Wolfgang PS.:No problem to show these pictures on this forum! |

Many thanks for your informations, Grafwolf !
As for JG 106 markings, I have also this "Schwarze 11" "??+EZ" photographed at Lachen-Speyerdorf which does look absolutely similar to the machine you posted... http://www.flickr.com/photos/2809206...7640148828463/ Thanks again for your much valued input Marc |

Re: Me109 two seater photo "31+I"
Hallo Marc,
I think "white 31" is a machine used for school duties in some semi-operational status(2 digits instead of 3) which would point to an EJG machine. Initially I thought of some 3rd Gruppe Stab´s liaison a/c but on photos I found a similar machine with white trim and 2nd Gruppe bar in the background of the Mühldorf-Mettenheim junkyard. This wouldn´t exclude a liaison a/c of III./EJG 2. I think you´re correct with the tailband, but in overpainted form. Remember, the early Bf109G-12s were made mostly from slightly damaged Bf109G-4 airframes. Most G-12s show a re-used camouflage with rudimentary overpainted former insignia. Regards RolandF |
