information on intercepted bombing mission

Hi everyone, my name is Jim Meyer, I have been redirected to this web site for the information that I am seeking. I am looking for information on actions taking by a ME-109 on 43/01/14. My uncle 2lt. Louis F. Meyer was flying a P-38, escorting a flight of bombers over Sousse and Sfax Tunisia. My uncle was shot down and the crash site and remains have never been found. The information that I request is the approximate location of when the ME-109’s intercepted the bomber formation and an approximate location of when the ME-109 intercepted my uncles P-38. I will attach the mission report for that day. Any information, no matter how little it may be, will be a big help for me in trying to recover my uncle

Are you sure about the date? Or that it was Bf 109s? The only P-38 claim we have for that day is by a Fw 190 from JG 2. None of the 109 units claimed a P-38. It would be hard, even for Luftwaffe pilots who were notoriously bad on a/c identification, to mistake a P-38 for a P-40 or Spitfire. Perhaps the mistake is in the ID'ing of 109s versus 190s?

acording to the two mission reports i have, the reports state a Me-109( it was a joint operation with th 27TH FG). I tryed to down load the reports but i can do it for some reason. how can i down load the reports for your viewing.
