III/JG27, 06.04.1941
On 6th April 1941, III/JG27 reported 6 Bf109s in the Luftwaffe Loss records.

Aircraft 70% damaged. 8/JG27. Messerschmitt Bf109 (4185). Greece. Oblt. Arno Becker (F) killed. Aircraft black 2+ a write-off. Messerschmitt Bf109 (5346). Greece. Lt. Klaus Faber (F) Captured - returned. Aircraft a write-off. Messerschmitt Bf109 (5072). Crash-landed in Greece. Oberfw. Gerhard Frömming (F) captured - returned. Aircraft black 8+ a write-off. |

Re: III/JG27, 06.04.1941
I think that 5346 is wrong and it should be 5376. 5346 of 4./JG 27 was 90 % damaged on 17 Oct 1940 at Fl.Pl. Bonningues, which means that it was scrapped after that.

Re: III/JG27, 06.04.1941
Faber should have been flying 5345 & according to Jochen Prien, Falting was uninjured

Re: III/JG27, 06.04.1941
Falting was killed and flew 5898 of 4.(Schl.)/LG 2. Faber could not have flown 5345, because that was lost 14 Dec 1942 near Biscarrosse when operated by JGr. West.

Re: III/JG27, 06.04.1941
RolandF:
The mystery deepens. I have Oberfw. Adolf Faltings belonging to II(Sch)/LG2. Bf109 (5898). Crashed at Belica-Nord a/f, Bulgaria. (Buried in Bulgaria). Aircraft a write-off. |

Re: III/JG27, 06.04.1941
Matti, I believe you have solved the mystery.
The report of (5376) appeared several days after the report of the 5 other Bf109s of III/JG27. So it is possibly a correction for (5346). That could be confirmed if we knew Lt. Klaus Faber was flying Black 6+ |

Re: III/JG27, 06.04.1941
I had those conflicting entries, too. With Matti´s explanation all puzzle pieces are falling in the correct position. Thank you.
