John Foreman's series of books...
Guys:
I was wondering if John Foreman ever completed his series on the Western European air war; I recall that he had several books about the 'unknown' Battle of Britain' & the start of the 'Non-Stop' Offensive; I personally own his 'Over the Beaches' the airwar during the Normandy Invasion;( I ALSO have his Me262 war diary but I don't think this is part of the same series); am I missing any volumes? Did he write about the period from 1941 to 1944? Can anyone out there can help me with this? thank you, ahead of time; NickM |

Re: John Foreman's series of books...
Mr Foreman alos wrote the fine series "Fighter Command War Diaries" that is covering the whole war in 5 volumes.
It isn't as detailled as the "Forgotten Months" or "Turning Point" books, and covering only a part of the operations (but later books have more and more details about German units met and losses they suffered), but I strongly recommend them. At least I will stroingly recommend the last three, the first and second books of the series describe 1939 to 1941 but lack the details of the latter books and are not giving any details about the period covered by other Foreman's books ("Forgotten Months" or "Turning Point", so from November 40 to May 41) To have an idea what it is like, check these internet reviews (with extracts): http://stonebooks.com/archives/970814.shtml (vol 1) http://stonebooks.com/archives/990126.shtml (vol 2) http://stonebooks.com/archives/011216.shtml (vol 3) http://stonebooks.com/archives/030309.shtml (vol 4) http://stonebooks.com/archives/040620.shtml (vol 5) Edited: AFAIK, Foreman is now working on a BoB history using the same format as the "Turning Point" books, ie told from the British and German side and trying to match claims and losses. |
