Re: Wellington III. batch among the Xs?
Hello Gabor,
From AB's HA100-HZ999. 153 Vickers Wellington III's, X's and XI's delivered between September 1942 and February 1943 by VA Squires Gate. Wellington's within the production batch with RAF serial numbers HF600 through to HF799. Production Batch was HF609 to HF816 with HF817-HF825 being cancelled. Also none between HF650 to HF665 (15) and HF704 to HF717 (14) as well as HF765 to 790 (26). X's (26) were - HF 614;622;626;630;638;642;646;650;669;723;726;729;73 2;735;739;743;747;751;755;759;763;793;797;805;808; 811. XI's (3) were - HF 720; 803; 804. All the rest ( 69 ) it seems were III's. Alex Last edited by Alex Smart; 24th July 2019 at 19:57. |

Re: Wellington III. batch among the Xs?
HF666, HF736 and a few between. Are these all Mk.IIIs? (Asking, since squadron diaries -as experienced- are full of errors.) Thanks,

Re: Wellington III. batch among the Xs?
Thanks a lot Alex! As you see, HF676 had a very colorful service history. Had at least 3 different AC code, served in the ? ('P', spring, 1943), 150 ('JN-R'- summer, 1943), 40 ('A'- spring, 1944) squadrons. 40 Sq mainly used Mk. Xs in 1944, yet this bird was stil in service as a Mk.III. She was not alone as an exception.
