Exclamation 12oclockhigh.net mail recognized as spam

Dear Friends,

I've encountered a problem that may explain why some people never get their activation code or other E-mail messages generated by the 12oclockhigh.net forum. Somehow my IP has landed in one of the spam lists, and any ISP or user who uses this list as (part of) a message filter will bounce all incoming messages from the forum.

How this came to be, I don't know.

It looks like all people using AOL will have this problem.

I will do everything I can to solve this issue, but I fear that it may be beyond my control.

Re: 12oclockhigh.net mail recognized as spam

Dear Ruy,

I had a similar problem over on LWAG. It is in the hands of the folks whose server your site is located on to find and eradicate the spammer on that server, then clear up the mess with AOL - at least that seems to be what happened to resolve the issue with LWAG. Once I brought it to their attention, they took immediate action.

Good luck!

Regards,
Richard

Re: 12oclockhigh.net mail recognized as spam

Thanks Richard,

I took similar action after further investigation and it looks like the problem has been solved. Although the internet is a great medium and spam filters are much appreciated, I do think it is a little too easy to block an entire IP-range.

At least people can sign up again without having problems.

Re: 12oclockhigh.net mail recognized as spam

Hi,

problem is that this message include html scripts and some of the anti spam engines recognize this as violation. Solution is to remove it from message and this is impossible and the other is to advice all of the new comers to put this site in the thrusted zone.

I have some similar problem with mail so on some address I have to post plain text with no html code.

Re: 12oclockhigh.net mail recognized as spam

The main problem is one of IP-ranges.

On a steady basis Lycos servers are being banned because of reported spam activity.

This is regardless of mail content.

The only way to bypass would be to switch off the spam filter, if the your IP allows you to do that. If not, than the only way is to clear said IP-range from the list.

It looks like this will be a recurring problem as long as this forum makes use of a shared server.

My first advice to members having problems is to look for a (temporary) solution by switching of their IP based spam filter.

OR try an alternative mail account if they have one.
