Hermann Hintzen 4./Jgr.west
Hi Guys
Another ranking ace pilot, who I hear nothing about after 31st December 1943! On 27th September 1943 he was shot down in combat with Thunderbolts, baling-out unhurt from his Bf109 North of Nordernay. He was the Staffelkapitän of 3./Jg1 from 15th November 1942 until 31st March 1943 when he became the Staffelkapitän of 6./Jg11, a position he held until 10th April 1943 when he became the Staffelkapitän of Jasta Helgoland, and on 26th May 1943 he returned as the Staffelkapitän of 6./Jg11, he held this position until 2nd December 1943 when he became the Staffelkapitän of 4./Jgr.West. He seems to have made six claims that were all confirmed:- 19th May 1943 Jasta Helgo B-17 1408 hrs 5000 metres Nr.1 13th June 1943 6./Jg 11 B-17 1102 hrs a.s.m Nr.2 28th July 1943 6./Jg 11 B-17 0902 hrs 5000 metres Nr.3 9th October 1943 6./Jg 11 B-17 1530 hrs 4500 metres Nr.4 31st December 1943 4./Jgr.West 80km West of Carsans 1235 hrs 5000 metres Nr.5 31st December 1943 4./Jgr.west 80km West of Carsans 1235 hrs 5000 metres Nr.6 After his last claims I can find nothing about this guy. Does anybody have his Date of Birth, or more inportantly information on his later career, and subsequent fate?...perhaps he became a Kommandeur somewhere? Grateful for any assistance. Kind Regards Johannes |
