Re: P-38 lost over Bulgaria on 26 August 1944?

Brown, Bruni and Greco were after the war buried at Belgrade cemetery, and later were transferred to Italy, like all other US personnel buried in Yugoslavia. They are not MIA, nor anyone from their crew.
Source: DPAA data.

Brown was also buried in Yugoslavia.
After that I don't have info, I think they were all transferred to Italy first.

Brown was initially buried in Belgrade Cemetery. He was reinterred in Hanford Cemetery, Hanford, California. There is a Find-A-Grave page for him.

Enjoy!

Frank.

Thanks Frank , I am not certain you know guys but Capt. Resce CCU1 served as military
aide to Winston Churchill during Churchill's U.S. tour in 1946, accompanying him on a Cuban
vacation. He was badly tortured at Shumen and his testimony along with other were part of
Gen.Hall's indictment against those Bulgarians guards who tortured and murdered
US and Allied POW's.

Cheers
Alex K

PS : Walter was not an original 455th personnel rather used to be attached to 450th

Looks like 42-52635 was the B-24 that was recovered from Lake Balaton between 1951-1954 from the depth of 5 m at Siófok-N, 3-4 km from the shore. 2 wings, 4 engines, 4 props, 2 wheels, weapons and fuselage-parts have been recovered by ship-crane. Few years ago a ~6-8 m long B-24 fuselage part was found nearby, probably from the very same plane. By the way, today is the 73rd anniversary of her crash...
