2. 9. 1939. Tarnobrzeg area

Hey,

I would like to get more information about the air attack on September 2, 1939 on the railway siding and the train station in Chmielów in the Tarnobrzeg area. The raid was probably done in the afternoon by I / KG-76, but I'm not sure (one old unconfirmed internet information)

Regards
Kris

3-element section attacked the railway station but destroyed the entire village (Chmielow) killing approx. 50 and wounding approx. 100 villagers (in Chmielow and Sobow as well as probably in Tarnobrzeg). Local porcelain factory was set on fire. Polish reports did not mention that the railway station in Chmielow was in fact destroyed.

Thank you Junker for the documents, could you write a link to this KG-76 unit?

Robert, thank you for the information, were they just three planes? I was there and people confirm that many locals died from bombs and onboard weapons. 10 years ago, a monument was built in Chmielów in memory of the civilian victims of this raid.
