Does Anyone know what me109E crashed into the sea off Brighton?

If you don't have a date or any more precise info, how do you know it is an E-7?

I believe it to be E7. As it was the remains of a DB601 motor pulled up by a fishing boat some years ago. It was a DB601N and had also the remains of the MG17 shroud mounts still attached.
