Hello mate.
I had a quick glance at the end (Index by name) of the "Battle of France then and now" (an amazing book which I fully recommend you).

There are some ULLRICH but none with first name E (Erich).

Oberfeldw. H. ULLRICH (KG 51)
Uffz H Ullrich (KG 77)
Fw K Ullrich (KG 53)
Fw Willi Ullrich (KGZbV 12)

Do you have the rank of Ernst Ullrich? Or any other info?

A.

By the way, the last man (Fw Willi Ullrich) is the sole mentioned killed on the 10th May 1940...so he "may" be your man.....maybe "Willy" was his nickname...not sure though.

Tricky this, when an individual is using names where both can be used as a given and/or family names.

Matti
Since the Germans could have had no idea which enemy units that shot them down, you must have
added those details from elsewhere.

Cornwell believed at the time of writing that both crew were killed but it was Hoffmann that was shot
trying to escape capture while Ernst was just killed in an unknown way.

Do we know for certain that Hoffmann was actually made a POW? Does he appear at any point after
the BofF?

Re: crash near Boulange/Moselle on 10 May 1940

This is what I have:
3./ZG26 Messerschmitt Bf110C. Shot down by Hurricanes of No.1 and No.73 Squadrons in combat west of Vouziers and crashed onto a shed at ‘Vaudétré’, at Warmeriville, 6.45 a.m. FF Fw Ulrich Ernst baled out landing dead near ‘Les Puisards’ at Saint-Masmes, BF Gefr Theo Hoffmann baled out and reportedly shot while resisting capture. Aircraft 100% write-off.
The exact fate of this crew remains unclear. Ulrich Ernst was found dead behind the windmill at Saint-Masmes. Theo Hoffmann landed near woods alongside the road between Warmeriville and Heutrégiville where he was threatened by civilians and reportedly shot himself. After the occupation, German authorities investigated the fate of this crew and set fire to a farm in reprisal.

Thanks to all of you for your help, I had checked Peter Cornwell's "Battle of France - then and now" but did not find him mentioned and that caused my request here. Thank you all.

Thanks John

A bit more to go on!!

Peter

The reason you can't find him in Cornwell's book is because you look for a person named
Ernst Ullrich.
His name was Ulrich Ernst!!
If you check that name you will find him on the 13th (as Matti stated) and not the 10th.
