Re: He111 2./KG4 FTR 18/19 June 1940
Hi Steve, unfortunately the code is from a source I did not record. However both the Blitz T&N vol. 1 page 111 and Luftwaffe Over the North p. 178 show this as an aircraft of 2/KG4. Another researcher who I am no longer in touch with did give a lot of details possibly from 'K' reports but I do not have copies,

Hi Brian, yes it appears 2/KG4 is correct having checked your source.
Many thanks for clarifying! Best regs, Steve. |

Re: He111 2./KG4 FTR 18/19 June 1940
Hi Brian
Were there any Heinkel losses on the night of 25/26 June (not 26/27th) off the south coast that might fit the bill? Cheers Brian |

Re: He111 2./KG4 FTR 18/19 June 1940
Hi Brian,
I think that 601 Sqn claim could concern one of two He 111Hs that must be ditched in the night of 26/27.6.40. One ditched 20 miles off Hartlepool and second E of Hull. Regards Robert |

Re: He111 2./KG4 FTR 18/19 June 1940
All I have notes for on 25/26th June are two Heinkel 111s of 3/KG26 off the Scottish coast in an attack on Glasgow, and a He111 of 3/KG4 off Hull with St.Kap. Hpt Schroder the 'B' on board. The KG4 book says the demise of this aircraft was seen by Oblt Schwarz 30km east of Hull as falling to a N/F. Two pilots of 616 Sqd. may have attacked this aircraft in the Withernsea area, and two of the Heinkels crew were later picked up dead and buried at sea.
Hope you find the one you are looking for, Regards Brian Bines |

Re: He111 2./KG4 FTR 18/19 June 1940
Further to the information on the loss of Stab KG4 on 20th June 1940, I can add that the Heinkel He111 crashed at Winkel, Netherlands at 3.00am. Uffz. Bernhard Zimmer (Bm) (Born: 31.01.1917) was hit by the attacking RAF night-fighter and was killed. He is now buried at Ysselsteyn, Netherlands, CW-12-276.
