Major Werner Hoffmann Knight's Cross HolderNJG 3

I've just been informed today by his wife, that Major Werner Hoffmann of NJG 3, died last week on 8th July aged 93.

Werner was a close friend of mine, very warm, charming and generous with his time. He was awarded the Knight's Cross and recommended for the Oak Leaves, however, the war came to an end before it could become official.

He will be greatly missed by those that knew him, and my thoughts go out to his charmimg wife, Sabine.

Re: Major Werner Hoffmann Knight's Cross HolderNJG 3

Hello David,

A sad loss but a very respectable age! I remember Hoffmann especialy as a prominent member of the II./NJG 5 and I./NJG 5 though...

May he rest in peace, Marcel Hogenhuis / Venlo

Hi Marcel,

93 is a good age and a good innings!

You are right, he was better known for his time with NJG 5, but as you already know, he was Staffelkapitaen of 5./NJG 3 before transferring in February 1943 to NJG 5.

Hope you and your family are well. Always look forward to seeing photographs of your ever growing family!

All the very best,

David

Hello David,

In that case I can do you a favour with this picture and you may be comforted to read that this Schwarm will not expand to Staffel strength!

All the best from Venlo, Marcel
