Hptm Hans Autenrieth

Friends,

Does anyone know if Hptm Hans Autenrieth is still alive?He claims a hit on 3 Jun 44 01:23 Le Neubourg.What machine was he flying?

In the book 'Night Airwar ' there is an acknowledgement to Frau Anneliese Autenrieth widow of Hans Autenrieth. It also states in the text he was taken POW 3/4-Aug.-1944 after baling out of his Ju88 G-1.

I meet him several years ago, sadly he passed away, I have his photoalbums, there are photos of his claims 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15, also some claims of Schnaufer, Schaus and Rase.

Claim 14 is a Stirling June 25th 1943 then he had no further photos of his claims, there are also only photos of his Bf 110 Nightfighter, in 1944 he flys Ju 88 G Nightfighters so he said different planes, sadly his flightlogs are missing (a collector keep them on loan in 1990 and never returned them - I know the name he´s not from germany...)
So I cannot say what plane he used that night.

By diverses sources i know the Staffelkapitan Hans autenrieth was Pow in USA , he return in Germany in march 1946.
In 1956, after diverses jobs, he can joint the Bundesluftwaffe, he finish with oberstleutnant rank .
I have info for dead am 8 june 1996 near Bonn, from cancer .
By Christiaan vanhee (searcher and author about St Trond) who know him when i was alive, i obtain diverses infos :
About the use of Me 110. Hans Autenrieth explained me that he was transferred to France and there he had to fly still the old and slow Do 217. He preferred the Me 110 and so he continued flying on Me 110 in his Staffel but was more or less put under pressure by his Gruppenkommandeur to give the good example in his own Staffel by flying Do 217 and NOT Me 110. Whow could he give the pilots confidence in the Do 217 if he as sole pilot and Staffelkapitän continued flying Me 110. So obviously in the Staffel of Autenrieth normally no Me 110 was used. Perhaps in the other 2 Staffeln.
Autenrieth had a vivid correspondence with Schnaufer in St.Trond and complaining that he did not achieve much results with his slow 217. So during a Schwerpunktbildung he was allowed coming back to St.Trond. Changed immediately his Do 217 for a Me 110 and achieved 3 kills in 2 days (2 kills on 22/23.06.43) and one kill 24/25.6.43.

In June 44 he flying on Bf110-G4
In August 44, he was shooting down with one Junker 88 G1
(i have note, but i need verify Wk 712343 )
Sector Avranches-Rennes
Damaged by DCA, the plane was shoot by one allied nightfighter, mossie ?
all the crew can use parachute near Fougères,
Hans Autenrieth and Georg Helbig are Pow by US, but after hans never can see Georg, evaded or dead during transport by sea ...
L'Uffz Adam was certainly killed quick by french's people, very nervous on ground...

According to Night Airwar and the 'K' report the crew baled out and were captured by Partisans . While Uffz, Georg Helbig was handed over to a POW cage near Cherbourg, Hpt. Autenrieth was after a few days taken into a woods where it looked like he was going to be shot.However a U.S unit turned up and he was handed to them, both Autenrieth and Helbig were sent to the U.K
As regards the third crewman Fw. Rudolf Adam it is believed he was killed by the Partisans and I think is still missing.

Hello all,
There is a possibility that Hptm. Autenrieth shot down the Halifax LK875 from 158 Sqn and crashed in Normandy this night of 2/3 june 1944.

Or any other idea about the pilot who shot down this bomber aircraft?

Well those infos about Autenrieth are very welcome.

Yes,
Sources are diverses, for 4-motors planes, not especially for Halifax ...
This night we can found 17 claims by LW, 11 for NJG 4 !
For the LK 875 we know (bomber Command) is crashed near Criqueboeuf-la Campagne (Eure) or Equetot (Air Britain) ..
We have allways the same problem with claims
For Bomber Command crash hour was 22H24...
The claims for Autenrieth is :
03.06.44 Hptm. Hans Autenrieth Stab II./NJG 4 4-mot Flzg BD 1 1.800m Trappes 01.00 2027/II Anerk Nr.9
03.06.44 Hptm. Hans Autenrieth Stab II./NJG 4 4-mot Flzg UB 6 2.300m Le Neubourg 01.23 2027/II Anerk Nr.10
I have not all the times dats for the 9 others diverses claims from NJG4,
and for the 6 others claims from other units ...
Good luck, it's not easy ...
