US Military plane - pilot H. Amstell - April 1919

Both aviationarcheology and accident-report.com tell of an accident with an unspecified US military airplane at Roermond (SE Neths.) with pilot H. Amstell on 23 April 1919.

Dutch newspapers of that time speak of an "English airplane" that came on its side after an emergency landing. The crew, two officers, got injured and were treated in a hospital at Roermond.

Airplane apparently got lost on flight from France to Germany.

Ideas welcome as to type and further ID of crew.

Regards,

Leendert

Hello,
I have no idea if this is the same person, but I found this in Fold3.
British Jewry Book of Honour.
Pte. Amstell, H - 6107
Roll of men at the Depot,
38th- 40th Battalion Royal Fusiliers ("Judeans") - February 1919.
The month and year are the same as your man.

There may be an accident report for this incident as you note it shows up in both aviationarchaeology and and accident-report websites. You could try contacting the sites and see if you could order the report.
