57 Squadron Wellington T2804, lost on 9-10 April 1941 Berlin raid
Dear all,
57 Squadron Wellington T2804 was lost on the 9-10 April 1941 Berlin raid. A secondary source stated re. the cause of loss 'shot down by Flak on return flight near Düsseldorf', but I have not been able to find a Flak claim that could possibly be matched to the loss of T2804. All of the crew were taken PoW, including two of the RNZAF, one crew member was severely injured and possibly repatriated. Can anybody shed new light on the cause of loss, and the area where it was lost? Cheers and thanks, Theo |

Theo, is it not possible that the Flak unit that shot at and ultimate critically damaged the Wellington was based anywhere between Berlin and Dusseldorf, as often aircraft flew on for many miles before the crew were forced to bail out.

Hi Larry,
That may well be a good explanation, but I also have a NF claim near Papenburg that could possibly be tied to this loss .. Cheers, Theo |
