Re: NA114, Halifax, 10. Sqn
Leo, shot down by nightfighter, is this confirmed? Other sources reported, hit by Flak from Airfield Detmold and exploded.

Re: NA114, Halifax, 10. Sqn
I have quoted the entry in the Bomber Command Loss Card with reference to the translated German loss report KE 10089. In extracts is noted: "Place of loss: by Lemgo. Cause of loss: Nightfighter".
If the German Luftwaffe authorities have noted "Nightfighter" I have no reason to doubt the German informations from 1945. I know other sources: .... shot down by nightfighter and/or flak from Detmold Airfield, crashing near Lemgo. The Halifax exploded and wreckage covered an area Wahmbeck-Wiembeck-Barkhausen ... Re: NA114, Halifax, 10. Sqn
Hello Spurensucher,
you can get clarity by an inquiry to the British Ministry of Defence, asking for a copy of the „Investigation Report“ and the German KE-report. The MoD helds many oft he captured German reports, here: KE 10089. Some users of the former database „Lostaircraft.com“ succeeded in getting informations by a Freedom of Information (FOI) request.
