July 1940 claims/losses
Hi guys
A miscellany of queries, but hopefully answers will be forthcoming. Thanks. 7 July 1940 Oblt Seidel II/KG2 shot down - victim of Dawson-Paul 64 Squadron? Is there information on full identity and that of crew? 10 July 1940 Ltn Kupfer and crew of III/KG53 shot down. Any details? 24 July 1940 Bf110 Erp.210 shot down - could this have been 64 Squadron claim for a Do17? 25 July 1940 Was Dawson-Paul of 64 Squadron probably shot down by Ltn Blume of 7/JG26? Cheers Brian |

Re: July 1940 claims/losses
7-7-1940 - Ulf Balkes book shows that the Do 17 of III/KG2 was attacked over the Channel by a Spitfire of 64 Sqd and made an emergency landing by Boulogne with 80% damage. Only crew details are B Oblt. Johannes Seidel wounded.
10-7-1940 - KG 53 book shows crew of 7/KG53 with Ff Uffz Reinhard Hoog +, B Ltn Konrad Kupfer +, Bf Fw Emil Kunz m, Bs Willi Erb m. Research by others credits Sub Lt. Gardner of 242 Sqd. with shooting the Heinkel down off the Norfolk Coast the aircraft ditched and at least one crewman seen in the water , Regards Brian Bines |
