25/11/1944 137 Sqn Typhoon at Evere airfield B56

Hi,
The orb of 137 Squadron (AIR 27/954, Form 540) mentions a forced landing of a Typhoon at Evere airfield :

F/O.Ensell ferried a new aircraft to the Unit from England. F/O. J.R.Nixon left with F/O.Ensell, but the next heard of him was that he had force lobbed at B.56 Airfield. He was quite safe, but the aircraft was Cat.AC.

This crash is not mentioned in the orb of B.56 Evere (AIR 28/62).

Which was the serial of the aircraft which made this minor crash at Evere airfield ? Was the pilot of this plane F/O. A.Ensell or F/O. J.R.Nixon ?

Many thanks and best regards

Luc

From that excerpt, F/O Nixon was the pilot of the aircraft which landed at Evere.

Hello. Just seen this. F/O J.R.Nixon was flying PD619; he was flying from Tangmere to Eindhoven but had an engine failure in the circuit at Evere and force-landed in a field nearby, wheels down, and turned over. PD619 taken back to the UK for repair but was not completed before the cease-fire so was scrapped (may 45).
Nixon was usually known as 'Hank; he is the pilot in the well-known colour photo from the RCAF collection.
