Heinrich Bartels

Hi everyone.
I am new here and this is my first post.
I'm doing a small bio on Heinrich Bartels, but I can't find data for some periods of his carrier.
After he was awarded his Ritterkreuz in November 1942, he just scores again in March 1943 (3 claims in one mission) and then nothing until after he was transfered to 11/JG 27 around August 1943.
I think that after the Ritterkreuz he may have been sent home for a month or so, before he got back to 8/JG 5. But for the period between March and August 1943, that's what puzzles me. I can't find any info.
I read that in his book Walter Schuck says something like Bartels was courtmartialed for being drunk and that that was the reason for hm being transfered away.
But no claims for about 6 months, from a guy that was scoring meteorically???? Was he posted as an instructor?
If anyone has any info....... thanks.

Paulo

Frankly, I have no idea. De Zeng and Stankey do not mention that. If he had been an instructor, they would have mentioned it. Maybe you can address them directly. They are also members of this forum.

Re: Heinrich Bartels

Teresa, thank you.
But I suppose that unless there is something on the records, we will probably never get to know.
