Re: info sought about FW190A3 crashed 7 August 1942 in Holland

Many ,Many Thanks Merlin and Jim P. for clearing these things up. I think that there was a mixed up as Winkeln- Vinkel.

Cheers,
Adrian

The GQM loss list says "Winkel-Hart" literally.....I think we can assume this identical with a location between the villages Winkeln and Hardt, close to München-Gladbach a/f.

The record in the SGLO must be wrong, we will try to determine where that information came from. The process of updating all the SGLO loss list records is an ongoing process.

I gather Jim is quite correct

The A-2/A-3 versions were produced intermixed (if I understood it right)
Had 2213 been an A-2 it would have carried WNr 012213 but since it was an A-3 it carried 0132213 instead.

Cheers
Stig

Hello John, I am researching the Vinkel area on crashed aircraft during WW2 as we will add some memorials on every crashsite. When i looked on the BHIC website I found the FW190 as described but no source for the information. I would guess the SGLO crashlist, which is obviously wrong as well. I think Winkeln and Vinkel mixed up.
Cheers and Many Thanks for your contribution,
Adrian

Just as a small aside: the spelling really is Mönchengladbach and not München-Gladbach.

Münchengladbach became renamed to Mönchengladbach in 1950.
