Short Stirling EH924 FTR 25/26th July 1943
Hi,
Trying to determine the cause of loss of a 620 Squadron Stirling Mk.III EH924 QS-B which crashed near Asperden, Germany July 25th/26th 1943 while attacking Essen. Any pointers welcome. Steve

Re: Short Stirling EH924 FTR 25/26th July 1943
According to Tony Wood's Night Fighter claims list, there were several Stirlings shot down by night fighters during the attack on Essen, but none that can be associated with Asperden. I wonder if she was claimed by Flak. Danny

I just went ahead and looed through three books that cover the war in that area of Germany. Only one mentions the crash, but with no further detail.
