Serial number of 83 Squadron Lancaster ‘X’, 2-3 January 1944?

Dear all,

Who can supply me with the serial number of 83 Squadron Lancaster ‘X’ during the 2-3 January 1944 Berlin raid?

Thanks, Theo

Re: Serial number of 83 Squadron Lancaster ‘X’, 2-3 January 1944?

Hi Theo,

I have a bad copy of a combat report from this night and it looks like JB466 or possibly JB488 but a google search supports JB488 https://www.backtonormandy.org/compo...944-01-22.html

Cheers,
Peter

Hi all,

Is it possible that the code has been changed during the month? I don´t have the ORB but checked the partly masked document available at the National Archives. On the 15th Jan or earlier Lancaster "X" had the serial number (masked).488.

Cheers,
Peter
