The book is very thorough, it's based on Christian's Ph.D. thesis. Losses are given within the narrative, so don't expect a simple tabulation. Still, a good chance to practise one's German!

Hello Brian,

I am glad if I can help for your help received in the past! As I have the book at home because these operations were in 'my' area (Venlo, Bönninghardt etc.), it must be possible to send the answers if it is included in Christian Möllers book.

Please contact me off board: marcelhogenhuis[at]gmail.com

All the best, Marcel / Venlo

So Brian, what are you working that gives rise to your various queries about losses in the last fortnight of 1944?

Re: NSGr losses 16th to 31st Dec.1944

Nick I just get interested in a Luftwaffe aircraft or operation and try to find what information I can. A good few years back I got the Bodenplatte and Steinbock 'K' reports from the US to research them purely as a hobby. Now I am just looking into Luftwaffe operations over the West Front from the opening of the Bulge to Bodenplatte, quite interesting as many branches of the Luftwaffe from fighters to Transport, Paras, and the first jet bombers ops took part. With the lack of the German loss returns and restrictions on info. from WAST this does get difficult but I have the time. Generally when I start on a subject its one that has not had much book coverage ie TG30 supply flights to the Channel Islands/French Fortresses, by the time I have finished someone has bought out a complete book on it,

You might want to look at CAB 106/1224 'Indications Of The German Offensive Of December 1944', a kind of post match review culled from Ultra.

If you're not going near Kew any time soon and you want a copy, PM me.

[quote=Brian Bines;146051With the lack of the German loss returns …[/QUOTE]

There are three files at Freiburg with all the fighter and night fighter losses for the December period — admittedly not much help if you don't happen to be going the Black Forest in the near future.

Steve, thanks for the Kew ref. tip

Nick, thanks for that tip the fighter and night fighter losses were the ones I have info. on, it was mainly the bomber, transport, recon. and NSGr units that I was missing.
